As many of you know, I have retired from my position as Associate Vice President, Academic and Research at Sheridan College as of June 30, 2013.  I am glad to go but I will miss you all.  Many of you contributed directly to whatever success I have enjoyed and I owe you many thanks for that support.  Others have kept the institution on which I depended functioning and for that I am also grateful.

I was a faculty member for many years teaching writing in the School of English and Media Studies and then, for a second act, I taught drawing and painting in the School of Animation, Arts and Design.  I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity I had to work with so many dedicated students.

Many of you I first knew as Dean of Animation, Arts and Design at Sheridan where I focused on developing new Baccalaureate degrees in Sheridan’s Art programs, among them Animation.  I was also privileged to come along at a time when Sheridan had capital grants for building Arts program space.  Developing new programs and new space at the same time is a lot of fun I discovered.  Recently I have enjoyed helping to build Sheridan’s research infrastructure, both academically and institutionally.

My interest in the Arts continues unabated as a creator and researcher as well as educator.  Perhaps our paths shall cross in the future in one of those areas.

Again, thank you for your support and best wishes.

Mike Collins
