Sheridan is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for all employees. A cornerstone to achieving this is to provide knowledge and awareness of hazards and health and safety issues.
A new Ontario Health and Safety Regulation (297/13) has been introduced mandating Occupational Health and Safety Awareness Training which includes prescribing basic health and safety training content to be provided to all employees. This regulation comes into effect July 1, 2014.
The Centre for Respectful and Healthy Workplaces has developed an on-line module in SLATE that will provide the content and record keeping required in the legislation. All active full- and part-time employees will be enrolled in our new Health and Safety Awareness training in SLATE on Monday, June 16, 2014.
Full and part time employees that are not ‘active’ in PeopleSoft as of June 16, 2014 will be enrolled in the training upon return to active status by payroll. They will then have 30 days to complete the training. The module takes approximately 45 minutes to complete.
