Request for donations for victims of the fire in Brampton – Ardglen Community

On Sunday, June 8, up to 100 people were displaced and one boy died as a result of a fire in a townhouse complex in Brampton. Donations of non-perishable (preferably canned) items and personal hygiene products will be will be accepted on campus from Monday, June 16 to Thursday, June 19. Bins will be located at the Sheridan Student Union and Sheridan security offices at the Davis, Trafalgar, and HMC Campuses. Bins will also be set up in room A-23 at STC.

Below is a list of suggested donations:

  • Canned fish and meat – tuna, salmon, sardines, corned beef, chicken and other non-pork products
  • Canned beans – chickpeas, kidney beans, lentils
  • Canned fruit – peaches, pears, pinapple
  • Canned vegetables – corn, green beans, carrots, mushrooms
  • Healthy snacks – granola or cereal bars, crackers, cookies
  • Personal hygiene products – toothbrushes in adult and kid sizes, toothpaste, shampoo, hair brushes

Many of the families affected by this tragedy were uninsured and lost everything. Monetary donations are also being accepted through the United Way of Peel Region at http://www.unitedwaypeel.org/ecsf.
