Over the past several weeks, there have been a number of posts in the Sheridan Insider providing links to resources to help people identify if they are sending electronic messages that fall under Canada’s new Anti-Spam Law (CASL), which came into effect on July 1. These have included a slide deck, Q&A, and checklist to help people determine if their messages fall within the scope of the law.
Anyone who needs to send a Commercial Electronic Message (C.E.M.) from a Sheridan email address can do so through one of two means:
1) If you need to send an email to a group list safely, you may wish to contact our Digital Marketing team who uses an email tool that takes into account the CASL requirements. For assistance, please contact: sheridanemail@sheridancollege.ca
2) If you have deemed that you have the appropriate consent required to send an individual Commercial Electronic Message independently, please use the Outlook Web App to ensure that the recipients are vetted against the master Sheridan unsubscribe list. This will automatically append an unsubscribe link to the email. You will also need to set up a signature in OWA to identify yourself appropriately. Details about this process can be found at: https://it.sheridancollege.ca/selfhelp/email/cem-owa.html
