Starting on Wednesday, July 23 at 10 p.m. until Thursday, July 24 at 12 a.m., IT staff will be performing upgrades on Sheridan’s wireless network. During this two-hour time frame wireless services will be periodically unavailable across all of Sheridan’s campuses, including the student residences at Davis and Trafalgar.
The upgrade to the wireless system will include:
- The allocation of more IP addresses to facilitate increased demand for wireless services
- The implementation of fast roaming. Sheridan’s campuses feature many wireless access points (APs) to serve users across the College. When a user with a wireless device moves from one AP to another there is a hand-off that occurs as the device moves away from the AP it was connected to and towards another AP with a stronger signal. The implementation of fast roaming minimizes these hand-off delays.
We appreciate your patience during this upgrade. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the IT Help Desk at ext. 2150 or send email to helpdesk@sheridancollege.ca.
