Student Advisement in the Student Services Centre is a point of referral for students who find themselves on Academic Probation or in a May Not Continue status. For these students, it may be a stressful and confusing time and they will need someone to talk with and someone to explain their various options and next steps
Each year the Student Advisement team supports students in poor academic standing. As per the preference of each academic school, we assist and refer the students in a number of ways, some of which include:
- Providing and clarifying information to the students on the Academic Standing policy
- Ensuring students know where to look for their final grades, and have an understanding of their academic standing and situation
- Explaining their options and possible implications
- Connecting students to other Support Services as required at Sheridan (e.g. Career Education)
- Preparing students to meet with their academic contact (e.g. AP2 students who need their Academic Advisement form completed and signed by a designate)
We encourage you to refer students on Academic Probation (AP1 and AP2), and in a May Not Continue status to Student Advisement in the Student Services Centre. We are available Monday to Friday, from 8am – 5pm to help students on a drop-in basis. We are located in the Student Service Centre in room B230 at Davis, room B104 at Trafalgar, and at the Welcome Desk at HMC.
Contacts within the Academic Schools may confirm their Academic Standing appointment process and Program Coordinator/Academic Advisor availability by email to: joe.henry@sheridancollege.ca.
