After 27 years of service to Sheridan, Jane Jenner, Senior Manager of Special Projects in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, will be retiring at the end of August. Jane joined the College in 1987 to manage a social research project that produced a study of the training needs of individuals with disabilities in Halton and Peel. She subsequently taught part-time in both government-sponsored and post-secondary programs, and was also program coordinator for a federally funded program and acting program coordinator for a post-secondary program. Jane developed project proposals and budgets for various federal and provincial government funding bodies, and crafted proposals to prospective donors for major capital campaigns. In her project management roles, Jane has collaborated on and led major projects valued from $500,000 to over $2 million, in several cases serving as the budget manager and main contact with the funder.
Over the past several years, Jane’s collaboration with colleagues in various faculties to launch a wide range of dual credit programs across the college has contributed to the success of this initiative. Each year about 500 high school students come to Sheridan to take our courses, earning both high school and college credits and affording them an excellent pathway into Sheridan. Most recently, Jane has focused much of her time serving in a project management role for the dual credit initiative as well as a number of other projects related to academic pathways and credit transfer.
Jane’s leadership will be deeply missed. Fortunately for us, she has agreed to return to Sheridan on a part-time basis until November 2014. Details of her retirement celebration will be forthcoming later in Fall.
