There is a new member of the Occupational Health and Safety Services team! I am pleased to announce the addition of Kelly Kwon as Occupational Health and Safety Specialist. Kelly replaces Siobheann Lahey.
Kelly comes to Sheridan from a similar role with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. While at the TCDSB, Kelly was responsible for ensuring compliance with OHSA, regulations, incident investigations and Board policy for 200+ schools in the district. She also created and delivered training programs for various audiences while in the role. Kelly also was employed by the Ministry of Labour as part of a Special Projects team that researched industrial hygiene issues and substitution for toxic chemicals identified in the Toxics Reduction Act.
Kelly’s formal education took her to Queen’s where she completed her B. Sc. in Life Sciences. Hungry for more knowledge, she then attended Ryerson where she received her B. A. Sc. in Occupational Health and Safety. Her passion for the subject and hard work resulted in receiving the Ryerson General Scholarship for her academic performance. Instead of resting on her laurels, Kelly has also received additional certification and training in Ergonomics, Emergency Management, Violence Risk Threat Assessment amongst several more.
Please join me in welcoming Kelly to Sheridan!
