Sheridan’s presence in Mississauga is growing, with the impending addition of a second building at our Hazel McCallion Campus. As this project continues to gain momentum, we’re pleased to provide our community with this update.
On September 15, Infrastructure Ontario (IO) announced the selection of a preferred bidder, Sheridan Creative Partnership, to design, build and finance the second building at HMC. Click here to read the release from IO that explains the process for selecting the bidder, which was also posted to the News & Events page on the Sheridan website last month.
Upon this announcement, a one-month process was set in motion that involved the finalizing of contracts to reach commercial financial close. We expect this announcement to be made later this week, after which time further details can be made public about this exciting development project.
At the HMC “S” celebration on September 23, Sheridan President and CEO Jeff Zabudsky revealed some fun facts about the new building to our internal community. Those highlights were shared in a previous Insider post. In case you missed it, click here.
On October 24, a ground breaking ceremony will take place at HMC. Honoured guests include Dr. Reza Moridi, the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities and Mississauga’s Mayor Hazel McCallion for whom the campus is named. Arrangements are being made to livestream the ceremony to the Sheridan web and Sheridan TV.
Coinciding with the ground breaking ceremony will be the launch of a web page about the expansion project. It will be hosted on the Sheridan website and will include the latest news and announcements regarding the building, expected to open in the fall of 2016. We will share the link once the web page is live.
