In recent months, Sheridan College established a taskforce to focus on issues related to sexual and gender diversity.

The mandate of the taskforce is to carry out a needs assessment of the Sheridan community with respect to issues of gender and sexual diversity, and provide the results to the Sheridan Executive Committee to directly inform the development of future initiatives. The key to the success of the Taskforce is a diversity of voices and experiences from a wide range of areas across the College, including students and employees from all campuses.

We currently have a diverse group of employee volunteers at this time and we are now actively seeking student volunteers. If you are a student and are interested in participating on the taskforce please submit a short expression of interest outlining your desire towards advancing an inclusive community for LGBTT2SQQIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Transsexual, 2-Spirited, Questioning, Queer, Intersex, Ally) by October 24, 2014 to diversitytaskforce@sheridancollege.ca.

The work of the taskforce will continue through the fall of 2014 and the winter of 2015. Meeting locations will rotate to accommodate all participants with teleconferencing made available where possible.

If you have any questions you are welcome to send them to diversitytaskforce@sheridancollege.ca.

Thank you,

Joe Henry and Margaret Sanderson, Co-Chairs
Student Services and the Centre for Respectful & Healthy Workplaces
