The Investigation: Public & Private program at Sheridan College is pleased to announce the creation of a new partnership with i-View Systems, a leading provider of incident and risk management software solutions for the security, safety and surveillance industries.

As a result of this partnership, i-View systems will be providing the Investigation program with access to the award-winning ‘i-Trak’ software package across several classes in the second year of the program. ‘i-Trak’ provides a comprehensive and secure platform for incident tracking which enhances the ability of public and private organizations to carry out investigations, engage in loss prevention, and successfully manage complex security infrastructure.

Since its foundation in 2002, the Oakville-based company has rapidly expanded to become a global presence and i-View systems currently has customers in over 50 countries, and their software products are used by many major organizations across the gaming and corporate security environments in Canada and internationally.

On October 24, 2014, Derek Poon and Ed Hyatt of i-View systems trained several faculty members from the Sheridan Investigation program in the use of the ‘i-Trak’ software package. Faculty member and program coordinator, Gary Galbraith, described the partnership as an “important opportunity to orientate our students in an industry standard software and we are delighted that the Investigation program will be able to use this outstanding platform for security and safety with our students in the future”.

The use of technology as a tool for critical thinking and experiential learning has been expanded across the Investigation program over the last twelve months, and Gary Galbraith noted the importance of this development in terms of creating vocational pathways for students: “organizational security is an evolving and dynamic area of professional practice where new entrants are required to display critical thinking skills and be familiar with the use of technology to support security and safety operations; the use of ‘i-Trak’ helps faculty to prepare our students with the 21st century skills they need to work in multiple areas across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors”.
