December 6 is Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. Each year, we pause to remember the lives of the 14 women who were murdered at École Polytechnique de Montréal.
This year, Sheridan’s ceremony will be held on Friday, December 5 at 11 am, in the SCAET lobby at our Trafalgar Road Campus, with the event being livestreamed to all campuses. In addition to honouring the victims, Sheridan’s President, Student Union President and Dean of Students will be on hand to discuss current and planned initiatives to end gender based violence and sexual assault at Sheridan. Members of the community will be invited to sign pledge cards that demonstrate their commitment to stand up against violence. Our community will be asked to reflect on the concrete actions we can all take in our daily routines to prevent all forms of violence against women.
