When students receive a May Not Continue standing, they are often at a loss for their options and next steps. Student Advisors and Career Counsellors have always been available to support these students but now we have developed a new online tool which will provide preliminary information and help these students determine initial action steps, regardless of time or day.
The virtual URL, manageyouracademics.sheridancollege.ca, is now live and will be especially helpful to students seeking assistance with managing their academic standing during the holiday closure. Staff and faculty are welcome to include manageyouracademics.sheridancollege.ca in any vacation messages.
As per the preference of each academic school, the Student Advisement team assists and refers students with Academic Probation and May Not Continue standings in a number of ways. Some of these include:
• Providing and clarifying the Academic Standing policy
• Ensuring students know where to look for final grades, and have an understanding of their academic standing and situation
• Explaining their options and implications
• Connecting students to other supports and resources as required
• Preparing students to meet with their academic contact (i.e. AP2 students who need their Academic Advisement form completed and signed by a designate)
Students on Academic Probation (AP1 and AP2), and in a May Not Continue status may be referred to Student Advisement. We are available Monday to Friday, from 8am – 5pm to help students on a drop-in basis. We are located in the Student Service Centre in Room B230 at Davis, Room B104 at Trafalgar, and at the Welcome Desk at HMC.
