If you have a broken household item that you don’t know what to do with, you can bring it to the upcoming Repair Café in Brampton this Sunday! In collaboration with Sheridan’s MakeSpace Creative Hub, Office for Sustainability is offering this Repair Café at the Four Corners Library. At the Repair Café, not only can you get help on fixing it, but also you can learn from expert volunteer “fixers” about how to repair it yourself. There will be fixers available for small appliances, computers and electronics, among others. It is free and everyone is welcome! You’ll meet new people while enjoying a cup of coffee. To avoid lineups, please arrive early.

What: Repair Café – a global movement that aims to reduce the waste that’s sent to landfill and to change society’s throw-away mindset. Sheridan is the first higher education institution in Canada joining this growing network of more than 400 repair cafés around the world

Why: To celebrate and reaffirm Sheridan’s commitment to its Mission Zero plan
Remember:
1. Bring all the accessory of your item if possible (e.g. cable, manual) to help your fixer on diagnosis of the problem.
2. Bring the replacement part, which will not be provided by the fixer (e.g. a new zipper to replace the broken zipper)
3. Bring a part to test if available (e.g. a working bulb for your lamp, a CD for your CD player)
