Missed the last town hall meeting? Forgot the date of the Welcome Back event? There is always lots going on at Sheridan and it’s sometimes difficult to keep track of dates and times mentioned on the Insider in your calendar. To help with this, a new feature is being introduced on some Insider posts: a calendar icon that automatically generates an Outlook appointment to help you save the date for an event you’d like to attend.

calendar-middleAs we trial this feature, please note that the event icon will only be used for meetings and events that are open to the larger Sheridan community (e.g., town hall meetings, holiday cheer events, conferences, etc.).

It’s important to note that if the event or meeting is cancelled or details change, this will not be reflected in the appointment in your calendar. Please treat this feature as a basic way to ‘save the date’ but be sure to verify details in advance.

Here’s how it works:

**The instructions below pertain to Windows users. If you use a Mac but would like to use this feature, you may need to adjust your calendar settings so that the default calendar is Outlook and not the iCal Mac calendar. For instructions on how to do this, IT has put together a web page on the Sheridan Help Desk site: https://it.sheridancollege.ca/selfhelp/email/calendar-default-mac.html **

1) Click on the calendar icon next to the event that you’d like to save to your Outlook calendar. A pop-up box should appear with a prompt to open the file with Microsoft Outlook. Select OK.

2) An appointment will be automatically generated in Oulook. Review it to make sure you selected the correct icon as some posts may have more than one icon if the event/meeting takes place on different campuses (like the town halls). Then click Save & Close.

3) The appointment will be held in your calendar.
