7th Annual (Pre) Pie Day Celebration
Attention all math enthusiasts and math appreciators alike:
You are cordially invited to attend the 7th Annual Davis Campus Pi (e) Day Celebration.
Notably, because March 14 occurs on Saturday, we will celebrate a day early.

Pie is free! Ice cream is for sale: $1.00 a scoop.
Proceeds to Mt. Sinai Hospital, Student Emergency Fund, and Sheridan Davis Bruins Toastmasters Club.
All WELCOME!
Background:
Launched in 1988 at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, the date March 14 is an ode to the ratio of a circle’s circumference to it’s diameter which is 3.14. March 14 represents the 3rd month, 14th day, hence the connection of date to event. Math enthusiasts are also aware that this year only, March 14 represents Pi (e ) Day of the Century, for when you factor in ( 20)15, we see the sequence: 3.14 15 92 65 35 89 79…
This sequence will not occur again until 2115.
And circles themselves are worth celebrating! Used not only within the STEM sectors involving Science, Technology, Engineering , and Mathematics, circles are often used symbolically to represent creativity, innovation, social support, and inclusion.
Although the celebration of eating free pie on Pi ( e) Day may be viewed by some as somewhat “irrational”, with such factors as the generous donation of pies by Sara Lee Foods, + the enthusiasm of numerous student volunteers, it seems a fitting way to pay tribute to one of our favorite symbols.
So come out and join the fun , find out more about campus services, and get ready for some easy, yet skill testing questions!
