Dr. Ginger Grant and Golnaz Golnaraghi, ABD delivered their first TED Talks at TedxMilton on September 14. The theme of the TED event was Linchpin. As introverts, they feel doing a TED talk is like running the Boston Marathon. The experience was terrifying, exhilarating and life changing. Golnaz opened the event with a talk on how she found harmony in her identity as a Canadian, Iranian, Muslim and Feminist. She presented her own life’s journey as well as her research on hybrid identities, leaving the audience with the takeaway that being a linchpin means not allowing self-limiting beliefs or the opinions of others to define you.
Ginger closed the event with a powerful talk on creativity and corporate culture. She spoke to the number one criteria for a creative culture, which is giving autonomy to employees over their work. Being a linchpin means being the hero of your own journey and having the power to choose living your passion.
