Sheridan has recently held discussions with the World University Service of Canada (WUSC), which has operated a Student Refugee Program since 1978. WUSC is also a partner organization of the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), and a registered charity.
Representatives of WUSC travel to refugee camps in countries worldwide to select candidates for postsecondary studies in Canada, ensuring that they are academically prepared and pass English language testing, and that they pass Canadian immigration criteria.
We are now in the process of joining WUSC, the first step towards sponsoring refugee students. As part of the process, an internal committee comprised of faculty and students is being struck to liaise with the agency as required by WUSC.
