Do you have a broken household item that you don’t know what to do with? If so, October 20 is your lucky day. Sheridan is hosting its fourth Repair Café where you can get help fixing it. And more importantly, you’ll learn from expert volunteer “fixers” about how to repair it yourself. There will be fixers available for small appliances, computers and electronics, among other things. It’s free and everyone is welcome! You’ll meet new people while enjoying a cup of coffee. To avoid lineups, please arrive early.

Who: Any member of the Sheridan community

What: Repair Café – a global movement that aims to reduce the waste that’s sent to landfill and to change society’s throw-away mindset. Sheridan is the first higher education institution in Canada joining this growing network of more than 700 repair cafés around the world

Where: SCAET, Main Entrance, Trafalgar Campus

When: Tuesday, October 20, 2015 – 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Registration may close at 1 p.m.)

Why: To celebrate and reaffirm Sheridan’s commitment to its Mission Zero plan

Remember:

  1. The fixer will work with you to repair your item together. You will need to sit with him or her throughout the process.
  2. Bring all the accessories of your item if available (e.g. cable, manual) to help your fixer diagnose the problem.
  3. Bring a part to test if you can (e.g. a working bulb for your lamp, a CD for your CD player, a monitor for your CPU unit)

If you have any questions, please contact Wai Chu Cheng, Sustainability Coordinator, at waichu.cheng@sheridancollege.ca .
