Words to End All Wars: Correspondence During the Great War

Presented by the Oakville Museum

November 9, 2015 – November 30, 2015

In war, the voices of those who fight on the frontline, command from an army headquarter or recover in a hospital are often isolated from those who remain at home. This display explores the words of the First World War through the letters written a century ago.  Hear the voices of the First World War as they tell their stories and interpret the harrowing events that surrounded them.

Mississauga at War

Presented by the Mississauga Public Library

November 5, 2015 – November 16, 2015

The First World War came to historic Mississauga 100 years ago and wrote unexpected and often difficult stories in the lives of its residents. This display presents a sample of their experiences. Meet some of the people who enlisted, read their letters from overseas, and find out what life was like on the home front. An online exhibit is available at https://mississaugaatwar.wordpress.com
