The Office of the Registrar (OTR) introduced the online Advanced Standing application in November 2012 to provide an enhanced service for applicants, students and faculty in support of student success at Sheridan. As the first college in Ontario to launch an online service for our students and faculty, Sheridan continues to lead the field.
Sheridan’s service provides students with a pathway to determine which previous learning credits can be applied to their program of study and streamlines the application process.
To date the OTR has received over 21,000 requests for Advanced Standing, resulting in the creation of over 37,000 course equivalencies. The average turnaround time for processing advanced standing requests for Ontario postsecondary credentials is now less than 10 days. Processing time for requests with an existing equivalency, which constitutes a third of all student requests, is one to two business days.
The OTR continues to develop the service and recently introduced an enhanced interface for students and new functionality for faculty approvers.
