Microsoft is ending support for Internet Explorer (IE) versions 8, 9 and 10 effective Tuesday, January 12. This means that there will no longer be security fixes for older version of IE beginning February 2016. Consequently, IT will also be ceasing support for these IE versions and is recommending that IE users upgrade to version 11. Please note the following:

IE Upgrade Restriction for College Computers Will Be Removed Friday, January 29

Previously, IT had a restriction in place that prevented computers from automatically upgrading the IE browser beyond IE 10. The reason for this was to address compatibility issues with some of Sheridan’s web-based applications. These issues have since been addressed and IT will be removing the upgrade restriction effective Friday, January 29. Following the removal of the upgrade restriction, IE 11 will be installed the next time Microsoft updates are applied.

End of Life Upgrade Notification

When the last patch for these end-of-life browsers is delivered by Microsoft on January 12, it will include an “End of Life” upgrade notification prompting users to upgrade their browser. If you want to upgrade your browser before January 29, you can download IE 11 directly from Microsoft.

New Disk Images will include IE 11

Moving forward, all new Sheridan disk images will feature IE 11.
