SOURCE, Sheridan’s new institutional repository, launched in October and has since seen visitors from all over the world including Spain, Japan, Sweden, Poland, Malaysia, and China. 851 downloads from the site to date mean more people are discovering works by Sheridan’s faculty, staff and students. Traffic arrives to SOURCE through searches in Google, Google Scholar, and by browsing SOURCE directly: http://source.sheridancollege.ca
Since October the top three downloads in SOURCE have been:
1. Typeforming: the Evolution of Typefaces
With video, photos, and material from the event in which an international panel of type and design experts gathered at Sheridan to talk about the form of typography and how its history contributes to its future.
2. Cultural Anthropology – Discovering our Past by Anna K. Boshnakova
Students in the course ‘Cultural Anthropology’ created their unique visual interpretation of the discipline of Anthropology. This collection of student creative assignments from Fall, 2015 is a unique archive of students’ creative thinking, imagination, originality, broad curiosity and love of knowledge, key components in learning and student success.
3. A Man of No Importance by Theatre Sheridan
One in a series of playbills, videos, and other material highlighting Theatre Sheridan’s exciting 2014-2015 season.
Faculty member and anthropologist Anna K. Boshnakova sees the value of including her students’ work on SOURCE: “As a professor, I admire and respect the talent of my students and I am so happy to have this excellent opportunity to celebrate their creativity, sharing the collections of creative assignments globally. SOURCE translates the professional attitude, knowledge and skills of our students, faculty and staff in many different symbolic forms and is a remarkable archive of the intellectual and creative potential of our institution.”
