Sheridan’s Film For Thought series is proud to partner with the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton and celebrate Black History Month with a screening of How She Move, the acclaimed 2007 film by Tanzanian-born filmmaker Ian Iqbal Rashid.
Filmed in Toronto, Brampton and Hamilton, How She Move weaves personal stories of Toronto-area high schoolers, the centrality of Black dance culture, and the strength of local community into the narrative of a young woman overcoming obstacles and tragedy in her personal life to achieve her dreams as a dancer. Featuring a great soundtrack and outstandingly choreographed sequences of the African American/African Canadian dance phenomenon known as Step, How She Move is a dynamic and entertaining film that celebrates community, creativity and self-expression.
This installment of Film For Thought will be hosted in B125 at the Trafalgar Campus on Tuesday, February 16th. Admission is free and open to the public; doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the screening at 7 p.m. followed by an engaging panel discussion.
