The birds are singing and Spring term is coming – which means that it’s time again for students to consider the Last Day to Drop a Class Without Academic Penalty – April 1, 2016.
The Sheridan Student Assessment and Evaluation policy/procedure each state that Assessment means “providing ongoing feedback to students about their progress and development relying on methods and strategies that do not include a numeric or letter grade.” The Procedure goes on to inform that “4.3.1.1. All students should receive feedback regarding their progress prior to the final date by which a student can drop the course without academic penalty.”
If you have identified students who you believe to be at risk, please connect with them to discuss their progress. You can then send them to Student Advisement to consider their options. We will work with them to investigate the factors that brought them to this point, and recommend remedial supports and strategies for moving forward in their program.
Student Advisement is also running a Game of Thrones inspired hallway initiative including an interactive GPA explanation and study tip exchange. Students can even enter a draw for an Exam Study Supplies gift basket (value $100). Of course, we are always available on a drop in basis in our regular locations 8:00-5:00 on weekdays: Trafalgar in B104, Davis in B230 and HMC at the Welcome Desk.
