Thanks to some quick thinking by the Facilities & Security teams, a wandering swarm of honeybees was safely re-located last week after landing on a car at the Davis campus.
On Tuesday May 17th, a swarm of honeybees landed on a car at just outside the daycare centre, also in close proximity to the student residence.
Upon discovering the bees, the Davis grounds crew notified the Facilities team. Pat Sharp quickly sectioned the area off and contacted Security to assist. Facilities contacted Sheridan’s pest control vendor and asked them if they could safely retrieve the bees and re-locate them, as opposed to eliminating them.
By 6:30pm, the vendor had transferred the bees to beehive boxes for safe transportation to an off-site location.
