The following STC staff moves update was provided at the February 21 President’s Advisory College Council Town Hall meeting and has been reposted here for your convenience.
- Classes will continue to be held at STC in Oakville over the summer 2017 term. Equipment will be moved over gradually in time for the start of the Fall 2017 term at the new Skilled Trades Centre at Davis.
- The current employees at STC in Oakville will be moving to appropriate facilities at the Trafalgar and Davis campuses.
- The Office of Corporate Planning has met with the main stakeholders on several occasions over the last few months in order to capture the specific needs for each team. Early in February, Facilities Management started to inventory the vacated space at Trafalgar and Davis and together we are working on a few scenarios to match needs with space available.
- Additional meetings with stakeholders are currently taking place to refine the designs.
- In the case of the Community Employment Centre, we have been looking at leasing external space within the geographical area defined within their contract.
- The exact date of the move will depend on the solutions selected in March.
- Some renovation will be required to accommodate the employees in the new spaces, and these costs are captured in the current budget.
- Move dates will become clearer after this point, and employees can expect to hear more in the spring and summer.
- All skilled trades and apprenticeship classes will be held at Davis as of the start of Fall 2017 term.
