Office 365 can enhance collaboration, communication, and mobility with a suite of tools that seamlessly work together. The Information Technology team, in partnership with academic and administrative departments, will pilot Office 365 within the Sheridan community later this fall. The initial release is planned for the winter term of 2018. Sheridan’s senior leadership team believes students and employees can benefit greatly from Office 365.
Why are we adopting Office 365?
Office 365 enables productivity, communication, mobile access and collaboration while keeping with Sheridan’s strict privacy and information security standards. It reflects the natural progression of modern workplace tools–in fact, Sheridan students already use Office 365 for their email and calendar.
What is Office 365?
Office 365 is a collection of Microsoft online services that provide the flexibility to stay connected to your files, communications, and team members from any device and from any location. Services like Office Online allow you to share and co-author Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote documents in real time with the security of automatic version control to protect your work. The OneDrive service will allow you to synchronize your work files across all your devices, provide you with access to those files from any location, and allow you to share files with others. Other Office 365 services can enhance team collaboration and communication with chat services, web-conferencing services, and work group sites to share tasks, files, and information.
What’s the next step for Office 365?
The Office 365 suite of services will be assessed and released over multiple projects starting this Fall. Expect more information later this month on how you can participate.
