The Community Foundation of Mississauga has awarded Sheridan College a Pendle Fund in the amount of $30,000 to support the Accessible Learning Transition Program (ALTP).

The ALTP will provide students with disabilities with the applicable skills and support needed to find and maintain meaningful employment.  Our intent is to provide knowledge about the workplace, and counseling support so that students can successfully transition to employment feeling more confident, prepared and ready to make a positive impact.

The Pendle Fund grant will allow for the launch of a pilot project which will include the hiring of a part-time program counsellor to advise students as they transition out of the college and maintain contact as they pursue employment and adjust to the workplace environment.

The project will be led by Matt Rempel, Manager of Accessible Learning, in collaboration with Lori Elliott, Director of Career Education.
