As the CEWIL Canada National Co-op Week draws closer (March 19 – 23, 2018) Sheridan is proud to announce its very own Co-op Student of the Year Award winners for 2017.
These five students have demonstrated their commitment to enhancing the profile of Co-operative Education, academic and professional achievements, and a desire to make a difference in their community both on and off campus.
Harpriya Kaur (CST – Software Development & Network Engineering) – Winner of the Renee St. Denis FAST Applied Computing Co-op Student of the Year Award
Shannon Walsh Moreau (Honours Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences – Athletic Therapy) – Winner of the Faculty of Applied Health & Community Studies Co-op Student of the Year Award

Gursimar Singh Anand (Honours Bachelor of Business Administration – Marketing Management) – Winner of the Pilon School of Business Co-op Student of the Year Award
Emily Terry (Honours Bachelor of Animation) – Winner of the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design Co-op Student of the Year Award
Of these five honourees, two shining examples of Sheridan’s best have been put forward for consideration by CEWIL Canada (Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada) and EWO (Education at Work Ontario) for the national and provincial Co-op Student of the Year Awards.
Harpriya Kaur is a recent graduate of Sheridan’s Software Development and Network Engineering program and has demonstrated impressive courage and confidence throughout her academic and professional development. She has been nominated for both the CEWIL Canada and EWO Co-op Student of the Year Awards.
Harpriya’s decision to study abroad in a foreign language when she moved from India to Canada, is only a small example of her strength, initiative and determination. Doing what is expected of her is not enough for Harpriya. She desires to make an impact on her community and has done so through volunteering to help seniors get connected online, aiding students with disabilities better manage their lives and feel part of the Sheridan community, and by sharing the benefits of co-op by engaging in several cultural groups on campus, as well as through social media.
As a highly motivated, adaptable and thoughtful person, Harpriya has proven herself to be a wonderful representative of Sheridan College and of Co-operative Education.
Shannon Walsh Moreau is an incredibly passionate individual who is not only bettering herself through further education with the Honours Bachelor of Athletic Therapy program, but also strives to improve injury and pain management. She is Sheridan’s second nominee for the EWO Co-op Student of the Year Award.
Shannon’s wealth of professional experience is highlighted by her most recent Internships and Field Placements with both the Ottawa REDBLACKS and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). She has not only developed and implemented new rehabilitation and training programs, but has even developed new treatment techniques.
Shannon’s advanced leadership is further evident by her winning the 2017 Dr. Ron Taylor Award for exemplary leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills and character.
Her community involvement is inspiring, having donated countless hours to the Shepherds of Good Hope Christmas program and Big Brothers & Big Sisters. Also, Shannon’s eagerness to help fellow students by sharing her knowledge proves she is an amazing representative of Sheridan College and of Co-operative Education.
Sheridan wishes both Harpriya Kaur and Shannon Walsh Moreau the best of luck in their award nominations and congratulates all five of the students on their incredible achievements!
“Every year I’m thrilled to review the amazing accomplishments of our Sheridan Co-op Students,” said Cory Latimer, Sheridan’s Manager of Cooperative Education. “Co-op and Internship students across all faculties are representing Sheridan with pride and professionalism.”
Sheridan will honour the five Co-op Student of the Year Award winners during a Ceremony to be held later this month.
