Tuition Taxable Benefit Notice and April 13th Deadline

The Canadian Income Tax Act dictates that any subsidized courses or training will be deemed a TAXABLE BENEFIT to the employee unless it is specific employment-related training that primarily benefits the employer.

Employees must complete the Taxable Benefit Waiver Form to justify that the course taken is for the maintenance or upgrading of employment-related skills, and not a personal interest course.

Taxable Benefits for courses taken in 2018 will be processed on April 27th payroll deposit. Your regular net pay will be reduced by the income tax and CPP deducted on this benefit unless the Taxable Benefit Waiver Form has been submitted in advance.

If you have an outstanding Taxable Benefit Waiver Form, please ensure it is submitted to Payroll Room B309, Trafalgar campus, no later than April 13th.
