I’m thrilled to announce the appointment of Tracy Smith to the position of Executive Assistant to the President. When Tracy transitions down the hall with me next week on August 7, Sarah Whymark will assume the position of Executive Assistant to the Provost for the duration of Patricia Vivacqua’s maternity leave. A contractually-limited posting will go up soon for the position of Assistant to the Vice-Provost, Academic.

Many of you already know Tracy; she has worked at Sheridan for over 13 years in the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design as a Program Support Specialist (2009-2017), and the Office of the Registrar as a Records and Registration Specialist (2005-2009). Tracy brought her knowledge, experience and relationship-building skills to the Office of the Provost in 2017 and made an immediate, positive impact. Tracy’s professionalism, interpersonal skills and notable work ethic will continue to be of huge value to me and Sheridan as we – together – transition to the Office of the President.

Sarah Whymark came to Sheridan from the private sector in January 2013. Her first job was as the Assistant to both the Associate Dean for Program Development and Quality Assurance; and the Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning. In 2015, she became the Assistant to the Dean, Centre for Teaching & Learning and in 2017, she moved to the Office of the Vice-Provost, Academic to support Dr. Melanie Spence-Ariemma. Sarah is kind, generous and incredibly organized! She has been an invaluable resource to Melanie, the Deans, and other senior leaders who have come to rely on her resourcefulness and great sense of humour.

The commitment to quality and accountability that these two colleagues consistently demonstrate is a shining example of Sheridan’s strength:  our people. I can’t thank Tracy and Sarah enough for embracing these challenging new opportunities. Please join me in celebrating their success.

Warmly,

Janet
