More than 2,300 new international students from 85 countries are expected to join Sheridan this September. To welcome the students to Canada and to their new home, Sheridan will be hosting its third International Welcome Festival: A Celebration for New International Students on Saturday, September 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Peace Garden, Davis Campus.
New international students, along with faculty and staff, will join in for a day of festivities including various cultural performances, entertainment, and food. Sponsors of the Festival include guard.me, City of Brampton, City of Oakville and Royal Bank of Canada.
“This is our moment to give our Canada, our Sheridan, to students from around the world. A warm welcome will colour that student’s entire experience with us, and the festival is a great celebration of our community,” says A. Michael Allcott, PhD, Dean, International.
Among the many performers, students from Sheridan’s Musical Theatre program will perform at the Festival, along with YouTube sensation Shobhit Banwait, the Canadian tabla drummer who fuses traditional south Asian sounds with pop music.
The event will be open to all new international students and complimentary bus transportation will be provided for international students from Hazel McCallion Campus and Trafalgar Campus.
International students are encouraged to register for the event to be entered into a draw for prizes.
