Tree Removal at Trafalgar Campus

Facilities Services has been working with the Town of Oakville to plan the removal of a tree at the Trafalgar Campus that has significant health issues. The tree, which is located outside the C-4 entrance (Northeast C-Wing), will be removed on September 29, 2018.

The tree has suffered major ice and windstorm damages in the pass, which damaged the trunk causing water buildup. Decay and rot has set in.

In addition to the tree’s health, the tree’s root system has damaged the adjacent building’s foundation wall and has invaded the storm water management system for the building. The removal of the tree will ensure water integrity of the C-Wing building is restored before winter.

Facilities Services & Sustainability plans to replace the tree with future plantings of three to five new trees, which supports the Town of Oakville’s aim to reverse its declining urban tree canopy.

As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. Please address any comments or concerns to constructionfeedback@sheridancollege.ca.
