The Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support is pleased to announce a couple staffing updates.
Jerome Thompson has been appointed to the Administrative Support Officer position in the Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support. Jerome is a graduate of the Business Administration Marketing program. He was previously an Office Coordinator at Solutions Electrical Maintenance Ltd. Jerome has three core beliefs that he values daily: teamwork, communication, and positivity.
Jodie Kerr-Alich has been appointed to the position of Indigenous Student & Wellness Advisor in the Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support. Jodie is a Registered Social Worker. Jodie’s career started at the Government of Canada where she worked in various positions for 18 years before transitioning into the financial industry and working in the field of social work. Jodie has completed her BA in Sociology and Psychology and did her post-degree BSW at McMaster University. Jodie is currently pursuing her Masters of Social Work at Wilfred Laurier University.
Jodie’s focus on student success is based on a holistic and anti-oppressive approach to practice and ways of being. Her main areas of interest and research are intergenerational trauma and the effects of trauma on an individual’s spirituality. Jodie is from the Cayuga Nation, a wife and mother of two daughters, one studying nursing and one studying Indigenous social work.
