It’s that time of the year again – flu season! Sheridan is committed to providing a healthy and safe working environment for all employees. This year, Occupational Health and Safety Services and the Health Centres have partnered to deliver free flu shots at the Health Centres on campus.
The flu shot is your best defence against the flu. It can save lives by:
- Protecting you, if you are exposed to the virus
- Preventing you from getting very sick
- Helping to protect other people because you are less likely to spread the virus
It’s important that you get a new flu shot every year because:
- The type of flu virus usually changes from year to year
- A new vaccine is created every year to protect you each flu season
- Effectiveness of the flu shot can wear off, so you need a new one every year to stay protected
All employees are required to book an appointment with the Health Centre in advance. Please note the following:
- Trafalgar Campus – The Health Centre is located in B129, across from the Campus Bookstore. The Health Centre has dedicated staff on site November 6 and November 7 to administer flu shots to Sheridan staff during their regular hours of operation. Appointments may be booked on other days depending on the nurses’ availability. To book an appointment, please contact the Health Centre at ext. 2550.
- Davis Campus – The Health Centre is located in C210, across from the OneCard Office. The Health Centre has dedicated staff on site November 7, 8, 20, 21, 23 and 28, and December 3 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to administer flu shots to Sheridan staff. To book an appointment, please contact the Health Centre at ext. 5153.
- HMC – The Health Centre is located in A132, adjacent to the elevators. The Health Centre can book an appointment for you at any time, subject to their availability. To book an appointment, please contact the Health Centre at ext. 5709.
Please show up to your appointment on time with your Ontario Health Card and Sheridan OneCard. If you are unable to make the appointment, please call the Health Centre to cancel your appointment as soon as possible. A message can be left on their voicemail for cancellation.
