Representatives from RBC presented Sheridan College with a generous gift of $200,000 as part of its Future Launch program on Thursday, November 1.
Initiated in 2017, Future Launch is a 10-year, $500-million program that aims to help young people gain access and opportunity to necessary skills, job experience and networks required for their future careers. Sheridan is the fortunate recipient of this gift, that will support two Future Launch initiatives:
- Over two years, $150,000 will fund the creation and implementation of the Career Ready program, a modular, online and in-person workshop program designed to give non-Work Integrated Learning (WIL) students the same career preparation skills as WIL students.
- The gift also includes a $50,000 sponsorship that will support the annual Pilon School of Business Alumni and Student Conference, which connects business students with industry leaders.
“We are incredibly grateful for this gift that will support our students as they graduate and prepare to enter the workforce,” says Maria Lucido-Bezely, Sheridan’s Dean of Students. “We’ve always been, and always will be, committed to empowering our students and equipping them with the necessary tools to succeed in the working world.”
To celebrate the occasion, Sheridan students were treated to a pizza lunch and interactive career workshop facilitated by RBC’s Jovic Howland, Senior Recruiter, Wealth Management, and Christian Guirguis, Recruiter, Technology & Operations. During the workshop focused on ‘personal branding,’ students were encouraged to hone their strengths and abilities while committing themselves to self-discovery, skill development and personal growth in order to achieve meaningful and fulfilling success in today’s ever-evolving labour market.
