Sheridan’s third-year Software Development and Network Engineering students were buzzing with excitement on December 7 as they hosted a showcase to display their impressive capstone projects.
Dozens gathered for the marketplace event at the Trafalgar Conference Centre to learn more about the students’ projects, which have been one year in the making.
The capstone project is a final-year initiative that enables students to follow industry best practices to design and develop a real-world, cutting-edge software solution from start to finish. Congratulations to the following winners:
Grand Prize Winners: Team Paccuin
Paccuin is an inventory management system, designed specifically for home stagers. The efficient and user-friendly platform enables stagers to track inventory using barcodes/QR to ensure home owners obtain the best price possible for their items.
Honourable Mention: Team Try Catch (EduCounsellor)
EduCounsellor is a diverse platform that aims to simplify the decision process for students choosing their postsecondary education. The program compares various information, such as location, grades, tuition, etc., and enables students to choose the institution that best suits their needs.
Honourable Mention: Budgetize (McDonald’s Budgeting Portal)
The McDonald’s Budgeting Portal allows franchise owners and their employees to monitor all cash flow in real-time. Users can customize their dashboard to track the numbers and analytics that are relevant to their jobs.
Among the other software projects were a sensor monitoring platform, project management database, social media tool to unite coding communities, and a facial recognition system.
