Sheridan is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for all of its employees and students. As part of this commitment, Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Services provides Standard First Aid training, which covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
OHS Services will be offering Standard First Aid & CPR level C Recertification Training on Tuesday, February 26 for current first aiders whose certification may be expiring soon.
In order to maintain your status as a certified first aider, you will be required to complete a one-day recertification session. Upon successful completion of this training, your current certification will be for an additional period of three years. You cannot participate in the Recertification Training if your certificate has expired by February 26, 2019. Instead, you will need to participate in a new certificant training which is two days in length.
Should you wish to maintain your current certification, please send an e-mail to ohsservices@sheridancollege.ca once you have received approval from your Supervisor.
Those who complete first aid training may be called upon to assist when first aid is required and are listed as Designated First Aiders in Sheridan-approved first aid kits located across all campus locations. Designated First Aiders will be responsible for inspecting first aid kits within their area on a monthly basis, as prescribed by Regulation 1101. All inspections must be documented by completing the inspection log sheet found inside the kit.
To view a current list of First Aid Kits & Designated First Aiders, please go to the Occupational Health and Safety section of AccessSheridan (Human Resources Centre > Occupational Health & Safety > First Aid & AED).
