During reading week in February, Sheridan’s President and Vice Chancellor Janet Morrison will travel to India to meet with our partners and affirm the people and agencies who support Sheridan’s network. Janet will be joined by Carol Altilia, Vice President, Student Experience and Enrolment Management, as well as senior staff from Sheridan’s International Centre. A centerpiece of the visit will be an Agent Appreciation event in Delhi to recognize longstanding Sheridan representatives.
While in India, the delegation will visit New Delhi, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, and Jalandhar to meet with people who support students on their journey toward study at Sheridan, including families of current students and graduates, agents, as well as educational and governmental institutions. They will also visit Sheridan’s distinguished partners, the National Institute of Design in Ahmedhabad, and Pyramid College in Jalandhar.
Currently, more than 4,500 students from India study at Sheridan, and thousands more have graduated and now enjoy successful careers in Canada and around the world. Opportunities for deepening our engagement with Indian partners include study abroad and exchange programming, collaboration on scholarship, research and creative activities, as well as institutional articulation partnerships.
The team – especially Janet and Carol experiencing their first trip to India – are looking forward to gaining an even deeper understanding of the places, institutions and people who influence our students. This trip will offer first-hand insight and help Sheridan further enhance its student experience through rich cultural and institutional exchange.
To prepare Janet and Carol for their learning experience abroad, we’ve asked international students from India to share “pre-departure orientation” advice, including information about cultural differences, travel advice, tips on preparing for their trip to India and more.
