I am thrilled to announce that today, March 4, is Dr. Vicki Mowat’s first day as our new Director, Research.
Vicki will play a key role in the implementation of the Scholarship, Research and Creative Activities (SRCA) Plan. Working closely with the Faculties and our Research Centres, she will help advance the commitments in the SRCA Plan to foster our differentiated SRCA culture.
Vicki will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Sheridan Research office, planning and directing the delivery of supports and services to our research community. The team in the Sheridan Research office will report directly to Vicki.
Vicki comes to us from Kinark Child and Family Services, where she served as the Senior Director of Planning and Research. With a PhD in forensic/correctional psychology, Vicki also spent 16 years in the Ontario government, working in four different ministries, always with a focus on research. The recipient of a number of Public Services awards for her research and other innovation projects, Vicki continues to be invited to lend her expertise to support government and community-based organizations through research review committees and other advisory initiatives, including the Centre of Excellence in Child and Youth Mental Health and Children’s Mental Health Ontario.
In addition to her wealth of experience, Vicki brings to Sheridan a genuine passion for building research capacity. It is a very exciting time for research at our institution, and Vicki will be integral to our efforts to continue to nurture and strengthen SRCA at Sheridan.
