Sheridan’s International Centre, along with FAAD staff and students, collaborated to produce a creative and innovative piece of public artwork on campus. The project, led by faculty member Les Sasaki, can be found in the B-wing stairwell at Trafalgar. Installation began on Friday, April 25 with the placement of signpost city-distance markers (pictured below) and will continue today.

The stairwell leads up to Sheridan’s International Centre on the third floor, and the new artwork is representative of internationalization, including concepts such as global reach, global community, immigration, and achievement.

Sheridan’s International Centre, FAAD and Facilities helped determine the goals of the project before Les narrowed down the design options and space available for the installation. It was decided that a vinyl “wrap” would be used as the presentation medium. All FAAD students were then invited to participate and 15 students came forward to join the project. Students were divided into three working teams and each team presented their design proposal to a jury made up of Sheridan staff representatives. A winning design was then selected.

Stay tuned for more details of a small “opening” of the installation in late May or early June, and be sure to check out the artwork if you are at the Trafalgar Campus!
