The 12 engineering students who make up the Sheridan Motorsports Team have a new accomplishment to add to their résumés: they have successfully completed this year’s Formula North race.
Tasked to build a car from scratch, the annual race which took place last weekend in Barrie had 20 postsecondary institutions from across North America vying for the winning title. This year, Sheridan has the distinction of being the only college in the competition. Teams had tests in a variety of challenges intended to evaluate the full performance of their vehicle.
When Formula North’s final results were tallied, Sheridan ranked 18 out of the 20 schools in the competition. Université Laval in Québec City took the first prize win, while San Jose State University and University of Toledo were in second and third place. Sheridan’s car beat out Temple University’s, which is a public research university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sheridan also finished ahead of Ryerson University.
Congratulations Team Sheridan for finishing the race and for this achievement!
