I am pleased to announce that Claire Wollen will be joining our team as FCAPS Liaison Librarian effective Monday August 12th. Claire will be based out of the HMC Library. Claire’s two main roles will be to assist Susan Shepley and the HMC Team in the design and delivery of information services at HMC and as Liaison Librarian for FCAPS.
Claire is coming to us from the Rotman School of Management, Business Information Centre at the University of Toronto where she acted as Public Services Librarian for 1 year and as Business Librarian for 4 years. At U of T, she provided library instruction and delivered reference and research services, both in-person and also on various platforms (including the LMS) to students. During this period, Claire was seconded to the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources where among her instruction and reference duties, she also prepared a weekly e-publication delivered to more than 1,000 subscribers that outlined for faculty, the latest research in their field of study.
Along with her Master of Library Science, Claire also has a Post Graduate Applied Information Technology Diploma. She has applied her technical saavy in various ways from building a new 150-page web site for the Business Information Centre at the University of Toronto to initiating and managing the Pages of the Past digitized newspaper page product as Manager of Torstar Syndication Services. At Torstar, Claire not only managed the Pages of the Past digitized newspaper page product but launched 3 web sites to promote the photo archive and handled licensing agreements with database vendors including LexisNexis, Factiva, ProQuest, EBSCO, FPInfomart and Dialog. The Pages of the Past product remains an active revenue-generator for Torstar.
Early in her career, Claire created and launched the first public library email reference service in Canada while employed at the Toronto Public Library.
