Sheridan’s social media policy comes into effect on September 30.  The policy was formulated based on the input of a multidisciplinary committee with representatives drawn from all areas of the college.  The committee researched and reviewed best practice policies at post-secondary institutions across North America.  The policy was presented to the Associate Deans Council on April 15 and approved by President’s Council on May 28.

The policy supports the use of Social Media by employees to achieve the benefits of global information sharing and gathering. It is intended to help accurately portray, promote and protect Sheridan and its reputation.  It is also intended to assist all areas of Sheridan to create and manage their own Social Media accounts to directly engage with their audiences and showcase the depth and breadth of their people or programs. Additional guidelines have been created for the respectful and relevant use of Social Media to empower people to use social media channels responsibly and confidently.

As part of the policy, a page on the Sheridan website is being built to allow for employees to have their Sheridan social media accounts linked to in an institutional directory. If you would like to be added to this web page, please fill out a Social Media Affiliation Brief form on Access Sheridan and check the appropriate box at the bottom of the form.

Please refer to Sheridan’s Social Media Policy, Tips Sheet and Social Media Policy Overview on Access Sheridan for more information.
