The first ever Sheridan Reads Story Swap took place on February 24 at the Davis Campus. Twelve storytellers – including Sheridan students, faculty and staff from across the college, as well as external community members – shared a variety of inspiring and creative tales with an enthusiastic audience.
Some of the stories were fictional, some autobiographical, but all showcased the wonderful diversity of talent and experiences that make up the Sheridan community.
For many, this was the first foray into sharing their material in a public venue, and it was really inspiring to see how the community became engaged with this Story Swap initiative. In addition, award-winning Canadian poet Daniel Scott Tysdal shared some of his own work and at the end of the evening did a creative poetry writing exercise wherein every audience member contributed a line to a group poem.
Sheridan Reads will conclude on April 8 at The Marquee, Trafalgar Road Campus, with an evening of reflection and conversation featuring author Lawrence Hill.
