Dear Sheridan Community,

As the result of a realignment of portfolios, I am writing to announce a revised organizational structure for the Human Resources department.  The changes that are being made will better align HR advisory services to meet the strategic needs of Sheridan’s leaders and will provide greater ease of access to HR services for Sheridan’s community.

The Human Resources department will be re-configured into two units: one unit will focus on partnering with Sheridan’s leadership teams to enhance the development and deployment of human resource strategy, and the other unit will assure our unwavering commitment to providing optimal human resource services to Sheridan’s employees.

The Employment Relations and Talent Acquisition unit will be a focal point for leader focused consultation and human resources strategy development and deployment.  This group is comprised of specialists in employment relations and talent acquisition.  The integration of these functions will support leaders in achieving Sheridan’s strategic plan.

I am pleased to announce that Ryan Piper will lead this team as its Director.  Ryan brings to the role many years of senior experience in employee relations and general human resources.  His leadership and deep knowledge of human resources has been an asset to Sheridan over the past decade.

The Human Resources Services unit has been configured to focus on enhanced employee services in the following areas:

  • Total Compensation Services (Pension, Benefits, Compensation, Human Resources Information Systems)
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Employee Wellness
  • Disability Management Services

I am pleased to announce that Rebecca Sprague will lead this team as its Director.  Rebecca has held several progressive positions within the Human Resources department over the past nine years.  Her expertise and commitment to customer service will safeguard the unit’s dedicated focus on employee service.

Effective January 2018, Ryan Piper will be away from Sheridan on a four month parental leave.  During that time, Rebecca Sprague will temporarily assume the role of Director, Employment Relations and Talent Acquisition.  Gloria Ting will hold the position of Director, Human Resources Services until May 2018.
